🌑 Menstruation: Days 1–5 The Winter. The New Moon within.
Vision and menstruation have a relationship that surprises most people. We tend to think of vision as something that requires energy, clarity, and forward momentum - all of which menstruation seems to withdraw. But what menstruation actually withdraws is the noise that usually obscures vision. The social performance, the strategic thinking, the awareness of what others might think. In the quiet of bleeding days, vision tends to arrive not as a plan but as a knowing. A felt sense of something true that is simply present, without argument, without the need to be justified. This kind of knowing is often the most reliable vision you will receive all month. The question is whether you are quiet enough to hear it.
This phase and the Vision menu:
➕ Add: a daily clarity question - one question held for five minutes each morning this week - is most honestly answered during menstruation, when the usual filters between the conscious mind and the deeper knowing are thinnest. Whatever arrives in response to the question during this phase - write it down without editing. You will evaluate it later. Right now just receive it.
➖ Remove: comparison as a visioning tool dissolves most naturally during menstruation, because this phase withdraws social awareness along with everything else. When you are bleeding and quiet and inward, other people's lives feel genuinely less relevant. Use that natural withdrawal to ask what you want when no one else is in the room.
🌀 Deepen: writing a letter from your future self to your present self is most potent when written during menstruation. The veil is thin. The distance between who you are now and who you most deeply are collapses slightly during bleeding days. Let the future self speak from that collapsed distance. She is closer right now than she will be at any other point in your cycle.
Journaling prompt for this phase: In the quiet of this phase, beneath all the noise of what I should want and what I think is possible - what does my life most want to become?
General recommendations: Do not try to plan during menstruation. Receive instead. The vision that arrives during bleeding is a seed, not a blueprint. Your job is to catch it before the cycle turns and the analytical mind returns to evaluate it into something more manageable. Write the seeds down. All of them. Even the ones that seem impossible. Especially those.
🌒 Follicular: Days 6–13The Spring. The Waxing Moon within.
Follicular is where vision becomes actionable. The seeds received during menstruation meet the returning energy of follicular and begin to feel possible rather than only true. This is the phase for beginning to give vision a shape - for writing it out, mapping it, speaking it, and taking first steps toward it. The mental clarity of follicular makes it easier to distinguish between a vision that is genuinely yours and one that arrived from comparison or conditioning. You can see the difference more clearly here than at any other phase.
This phase and the Vision menu:
➕ Add: designing your ideal ordinary day is most cleanly done in follicular. The mind is clear enough to be specific and honest, and the energy is high enough to imagine five years forward without immediately catastrophizing. Write it in present tense. Let it be detailed. Let it be specific enough that you could actually step into it.
➖ Remove: the belief that vision requires certainty before action is most worth releasing in follicular, because this phase has both the clarity to see a direction and the energy to begin moving in it without needing the whole map. The first step rarely requires certainty. It requires direction. Follicular can show you the direction. That is enough to begin.
🌀 Deepen: spending one hour with the question of your dharma suits follicular's capacity for sustained, clear inquiry. The mind is sharp enough to go deep without losing the thread and resourced enough to stay with a question without becoming overwhelmed by it. Write for the full hour. Follow wherever the writing goes.
Journaling prompt for this phase: What part of my vision that arrived in the quiet of last week feels most alive in me right now? What is one concrete thing I could do this week to move even one step toward it?
General recommendations: Translate vision into first steps during follicular. Not a full plan - a first step. The gap between vision and reality closes one step at a time, and follicular is the phase most willing and most able to take that step. Write the vision down in follicular with more detail than you did in menstruation. Let it gain specificity. Let it become a direction you could actually walk.
🌕 Ovulation — Days 14–16
The Summer. The Full Moon within.
Ovulation brings vision into its most magnetic, expressed, and outward-facing form. This is the phase where vision wants to be spoken, shared, and offered to the world - not as a finished plan but as a living declaration of direction. The body during ovulation is naturally persuasive, naturally magnetic, naturally oriented toward making the inner outer. If you have a vision conversation to have, a vision to speak aloud for the first time, or something about your direction to share with the group - do it during ovulation if at all possible. You will find the words more easily. You will be heard more fully.
This phase and the Vision menu:
➕ Add: a conversation about vision with someone you trust is most naturally and most powerfully had during ovulation. The words come more easily, the vulnerability of speaking a vision feels more manageable, and the act of offering your vision to another person lands with more clarity during this phase than any other. Speak it out loud this week.
➖ Remove: smallness as humility is most worth releasing during ovulation, because this phase temporarily dissolves some of the social anxiety that keeps vision small. You are more willing to be seen during ovulation, more willing to take up space, more willing to let your vision be as large as it actually is. Let that willingness do its work.
🌀 Deepen: mapping the through-line of your life so far suits ovulation's capacity for generous, outward-looking perspective. This phase can hold the whole arc of a life without it feeling overwhelming - it has the emotional resources to see both the difficulty and the meaning in everything that has happened. Draw or write the map from this spacious place.
Journaling prompt for this phase: If I were to speak my vision out loud to someone I trust this week - what would I most want them to understand about what I am moving toward and why it matters to me?
General recommendations: Share during ovulation. Even one sentence of your vision, offered to one person who can truly receive it, will make it more real than a hundred private journal entries. Vision that has been spoken carries different weight than vision that lives only inside you. This week, let at least one thread of it out into the world.
🌘 Luteal — Days 17–28
The Autumn. The Waning Moon within.
Luteal phase and vision have a complicated but ultimately valuable relationship. The same discerning, narrowing, truth-detecting quality of late luteal that makes it difficult in relationship territory makes it one of the most reliable vision-editing tools you have. When late luteal looks at a vision and says "I'm not sure this is actually true" - that is worth listening to, carefully. Not because late luteal is right about everything, but because it is very good at detecting what is performed versus what is real. The question during this phase is not whether to trust the doubt but which doubt to trust. The doubt that says you are not capable is not trustworthy. The doubt that says this particular vision does not actually belong to you - that one is worth sitting with.
This phase and the Vision menu:
➕ Add: writing your own eulogy is surprisingly well-suited to late luteal, because this phase is already oriented toward what matters and what doesn't. The trivial falls away during late luteal and what remains tends to be what is actually important. The eulogy written during this phase tends to be stripped of performance and closer to genuine truth about what you most value.
➖ Remove: the vision you have already outgrown is most honestly identified during late luteal, because this phase is naturally completing and releasing. It can see what no longer serves more clearly than any other phase. What feels hollow in your vision right now? What feels like it belongs to an older version of you? Late luteal will show you. Let it.
🌀 Deepen: a vision clarity practice from your own tradition - Jyotish session, Human Design contemplation, Gene Keys inquiry, ceremony or prayer - is most grounding during late luteal, because it anchors vision in something larger than the fluctuating emotions of the phase. Let your tradition hold the vision when your nervous system is too contracted to hold it yourself.
Journaling prompt for this phase: Which part of my vision feels completely true when I am at my most honest and most depleted? What remains after everything that is performance, fear, or other people's expectations has been stripped away?
General recommendations: Use late luteal to edit rather than to build. To clarify rather than to expand. To strip vision down to what is most essential and most undeniably true. The vision that survives late luteal's discernment is the vision worth carrying into the final week. Not because it is perfect but because it has been tested. It has survived the most honest, most uncomfortable phase of your cycle and it is still standing. That vision is real. Take it with you into Integration.
