Sync with your Moon Cycle
Lunar & Menstrual Cycle Guide Β· Week 2 Β· Mind π
Before you choose from this week's menu, take a moment to locate yourself in your cycle. We aim to work with your body's intelligence rather than against it.
Find your phase below and let it inspire your choices this week. Remember these are just suggestions - use it and filter through your inner guidance.

π Menstruation: Days 1β5 The Winter. The New Moon within.
This is naturally one of the most introspective phases of the cycle - the veil between conscious and unconscious mind is thinner now. Many women report unusually vivid dreams, sudden insight, or clarity about things they'd been avoiding seeing during menstruation. The mind, like the body, is in a receptive, releasing state.
This phase and the Mind menu:
β Add: morning pages (option in Add) are especially powerful during menstruation. Whatever surfaces in this unfiltered writing now often carries unusual clarity. Let it flow without editing.
β Remove: this is an excellent time to remove self-criticism in your inner dialogue - the mind during menstruation can be unusually harsh on itself precisely when it needs the most tenderness. Notice the harshness without adding more.
π Deepen: tracking your thought patterns begun on day 1 of your cycle gives you the clearest possible starting point, since menstruation often reveals the mind at its most honest and least defended.
Journaling prompt for this phase:
What is my mind trying to show me right now that it usually keeps hidden? What insight is arriving in the quiet?
General recommendations:
Warmth over cold. Rest without guilt. Reduce intensity in all areas; exercise, social commitments, screen time. Nourish with warm, cooked foods. Honor the bleed as your sacred time with your womb.
π Follicular: Days 6β13The Spring. The Waxing Moon within.
Rising estrogen sharpens cognitive function, verbal fluency, and learning capacity. This is measurably your best phase for absorbing new information, starting new mental habits, and thinking creatively about problems. The mind is clear, quick, and open.
This phase and the Mind menu:
β Add: single-tasking practice and 5 minutes of silent meditation both land well now. Your mind has the capacity to build new structures and habits in this phase more easily than at other times. Time for the Experiments ;)
β Remove: overthinking small decisions is worth addressing now specifically because your mind has so much available clarity in follicular. Don't let it get spent on decisions that don't matter.
π Deepen: learning something about how the mind works is your most aligned choice this week - your actual learning capacity is elevated right now. Also a strong time to deepen an existing meditation practice by adding length or frequency, since the mind is resilient and adaptable in this phase.
Journaling prompt for this phase:What do I want to understand more deeply right now? What is my mind hungry to learn?
General recommendations: This is your initiating phase, use it. Begin new habits here rather than at arbitrary calendar dates. Increase movement gradually. Experiment with foods, practices, timings. Your body is more resilient and adaptive now than at any other point in the cycle.
π Ovulation β Days 14β16
The Summer. The Full Moon within.
Verbal and social cognition peaks here - many women feel unusually articulate, perceptive of others, and mentally confident during ovulation. The mind is oriented outward, toward connection and expression rather than introspection.
This phase and the Mind menu:
β Add: one conversation a day without your phone is especially rewarding now - your mind's natural orientation toward connection during ovulation makes full presence with another person feel nourishing rather than effortful.
β Remove: comparing yourself to others on social media is worth addressing during ovulation specifically because your social cognition is heightened - comparison can sting more sharply now, even as your actual capacity for genuine connection is at its peak.
π Deepen: a mind-based creative project expressed outwardly: writing to share, speaking, recording suits ovulation's expressive orientation more than purely private journaling this week.
Journaling prompt for this phase: How does my mind want to express itself right now? How can I go beyond my mindβs usual patterns?
General recommendations: Say yes to more. Move more, connect more, be seen more. Your body is doing something extraordinary this week, it is offering life. Acknowledge this miracle that happens in you every month!
π Luteal β Days 17β28
The Autumn. The Waning Moon within.
Progesterone rises then falls. Early luteal can still carry mental clarity, but late luteal (days 22β28) often brings a more critical, detail-oriented, occasionally ruminative quality to thought. This is the phase where the inner critic tends to be loudest and where mental overwhelm is most common if unsupported.
This phase and the Mind menu:
β Add: thought audit practice becomes essential in late luteal specifically asking "is this thought true, kind, useful" interrupts the rumination spiral before it gains momentum.
β Remove: news consumption before 10am and multitasking both matter more now. The luteal mind has less bandwidth for unfiltered input and divided attention, and both will feel more draining than usual.
π Deepen: a weekly practice of mental rest - the digital detox afternoon, the day without decisions - is most needed in late luteal when the mind's capacity is naturally contracting. Honor the contraction rather than pushing against it.
Journaling prompt for this phase: What is my mind being overly critical about right now? If I trusted this discernment instead of fearing it, what would it actually be showing me?
General recommendations: Protect your sleep fiercely in late luteal as it is the single highest-leverage intervention for PMS symptoms of any kind. Reduce stimulants and increase warmth, rest, and nourishment. Say βnoβ more easily. Complete things rather than beginning them. The body is preparing to release again so let the rhythm complete itself.
