The Experiment
The 10 Territories of The Experiment 🌿
Over the next 10 weeks we will move through 10 areas of life - one at a time, with full attention and intention.
Think of each as a territory we enter together. We are here to explore, to see it clearly, feel it fully, and experiment with what shifts when we bring conscious awareness to it.
Week 1 — Body
Week 2 — Mind
Week 3 — Spirit
Week 4 — Time
Week 5 — Stillness
Week 6 — Creativity
Week 7 — Relationship
Week 8 — Nature
Week 9 — Vision
Week 10 — Integration
Each week builds on the last. By week 10 you will have touched every layer of your life - intentionally, experimentally, with awareness you didn't have before.
Week 4 Menu — Time ⏳
"Time is the only currency you spend without ever knowing your balance. Use it wisely.
-The Universe-“
Welcome to your fourth open buffet.
This week our territory is Time - the most democratic and most mysterious resource we have. Every human being alive receives the same 24 hours. Yet how we experience those hours, how we fill them, protect them, waste them, rush through them, or open into them - this is where our actual relationship with life lives.
Most of us have inherited a relationship with time that was never chosen. We live by clocks and calendars that belong to industrial civilization, not to our bodies, not to nature, and not to our inner life. This week we become curious about that relationship. We are not trying to become more productive but alive inside the time we already have.
Below is your menu.
Trust your first instinct.
➕ ADD: choose one time practice to bring in this week
Protect the first hour of your day - before your phone, before anyone else's agenda, before demands. What you do in that first hour is yours to choose. Even 20 minutes of this changes everything.
A weekly review ritual - 20-30 minutes, ideally Sunday evening or Monday morning. A conscious closing of the week that just passed and a conscious opening of the one arriving. What do I want to carry forward? What do I want to leave behind?
Time tithing - give one block of time this week to something with zero productivity attached. Not rest that will make you more efficient. Not meditation that will improve your focus. Something you do purely because it is alive and real and worth time. Let this be your offering to life.
The practice of arriving between transitions - before switching from one task, role, or space to the next, pause for one full breath. Let one thing complete before the next begins. Notice how many transitions happen in a single day. Another variation - take a conscious notice and a full breath when you cross through the door throughout the day. You can even count how many doorways you crossed!
Kairos hunting - the ancient Greeks had two words for time: chronos (clock time, measurable, linear) and kairos (the right moment, sacred timing, when time opens). This week notice and log moments when time felt different - when it slowed, expanded, or felt full. At least one per day.
Your own choice - any practice that shifts your relationship with how you inhabit time.
➖ REMOVE: choose one thing to release from your time this week
"Someday" thinking - the version of your life you actually want does not live in the future. It is available now, in smaller form, today. This week, notice every time "someday" appears in your language or thinking. What would it take to begin even a single thread of it now?
Busyness as identity - the unconscious belief that being busy signals worth, seriousness, or importance. This week, experiment with not reporting how busy you are. Not to others, not to yourself. Notice what arises when busyness is not available as a self-description.
Chronic underestimation of time - most of us consistently underestimate how long things take and then feel guilty when reality corrects us. This week, add a 30% buffer to every time estimate you make. Notice the what change occurs.
Guilt about time "wasted" - there is no such thing, only time spent differently than the inner critic had planned. This week, when the guilt arises about how an hour was spent, ask instead: what did that time actually give me?
Saying yes from obligation rather than genuine availability - one automatic "yes" to a time commitment this week gets examined before it leaves your mouth. Is this a real yes? Or a "yes" because saying no feels dangerous?
Your own choice - any habit that keeps you at war with time rather than in relationship with it.
🌀 DEEPEN: choose one to commit to for the full week
Track your natural energy rhythm for seven days - not what you should do when, but what your energy actually does. When are you sharp? When foggy? When creative, when relational, when depleted? By day 7 you will know something unique about yourself
Give each day of the week a different quality - many wisdom traditions have always done this. Monday carries one energy, Wednesday another. You don't need to follow a specific system. Create your own. What if Tuesday was for beauty, and Thursday for depth, and Saturday for commitment? Spend this week feeling into what each day wants to be for you.
Study one ancient or indigenous understanding of time - cyclical time, spiral time, the Mayan Tzolk'in, the Vedic concept of yugas, the Jewish Shabbat as time-sanctuary. Choose one that genuinely interests you and spend 30 minutes this week going deeper. Time has not always been linear - and your nervous system may not believe it is, either.
A creative project about your relationship with time - a timeline of your life mapping what each era gave you. A letter from your 80-year-old self back to you today. A collage of how you want the next chapter to feel.
Deepen your existing practice of rhythm - if you already have morning or evening practices, this week look not at what you do but at the quality of time inside each. Are you present? Rushing? Somewhere else? This week let one practice become genuinely unhurried, even if it means doing it for fewer minutes.
Practice of your choice. And if you want a provocation to think with this week - the question I keep returning to: If you knew you had exactly the right amount of time for everything that truly matters, what would you stop rushing?
A few notes before you choose 🌿
Read the menu, read the moon cycle guide and listen to yourself. There is no right answer and no comparison. What one person removes another may need to add.
Once you have chosen please write your three choices in your notebook with today's date. If you can, make it your phone screen saver (using Canva if you fancy fancy :) or by just typing it in notes and adding to the screen saver) so you have a constant reminder. Then share them here in the group so we can hold each other's intentions.
I will share individual guidance from your natal charts after you place your choices, in the private messages. General recommendations aligned with the lunar cycle are on the separate page.
